Migdal Active Jewish Parents, Active Jewish Teens and Volunteer Community

Migdal Active Jewish Parents (AJP) and Active Jewish Teens (AJT) are two groups that are vitally important for Migdal organization. They both are largely involved with a Jewish education and community development programs as well as in actual participation and implementation of numerous community projects.  This is where both teens and parents come together and work as a very efficient and effective team. It is also important for teens to see their parents lead by example and to develop as future community leaders.

Migdal offers both groups different opportunities and special projects. Both groups participate in master classes, constant work in team development, Shabbatons, trips to Jewish shtetls, seminars, festivals, conferences, concerts, annual family retreat “Halom”, holiday celebrations. They are also a helping hand with food deliveries to the elderly, disabled and Holocaust survivors.

Since the beginning of pandemic AJT adapted their projects to online mode, and launched many exciting online events. They got acquainted with the communities of Bulgaria, Germany, Georgia, USA, Lithuania and Estonia. Hundreds of teenagers from different countries took part in AJT events! AJP did not lag behind either. They held  hundreds of meetings with interesting people from around the world – writers, journalists, musicians, psychologists, guides, literary critics, art historians, collectors, and many others. Both groups participated in many concerts and master classes with worldwide audiences.

AJP and AJT are staying very strong even during the war that started on February 24, 2022. They continue to do their best and help others as much as they can under the crisis conditions. Many times they operate under extreme situations with the sounds of air alarms and sirens.

Volunteers are the backbone of the Migdal organization. They take care of the elders and Holocaust survivors, distribute food packages, and help with setting up community celebrations for Jewish holidays. Participating in all aspects of most important projects, supporting the most vulnerable members of the community, would not be possible without our volunteers.

They take time from their jobs and families, and very selflessly, devote themselves to helping others. It is especially important during times of crisis. Starting from the Covid-19 pandemic and now raging war in Ukraine, it would be impossible to implement all Migdal’s projects and to help as many people as we did without them.

Each one of our volunteers is helping in every possible way, either physically, or through their professional knowledge and expertise.  Most importantly, they are doing it out of love for other people, their big hearts, and sincere willingness to help others. Latest projects include baking challas, fixing everything they can, making sure everyone stays warm and safe, weaving masking nets for the Ukrainian army, preparing and distributing gifts and packages for holidays, and much more.
