This year a large number of Purim celebrations in the communities of Southern Ukraine is initiated and run with involvement of volunteers of all ages, Jewish youngsters – activists of V community – being in the vanguard of the events. In Odesa, Kherson, Nikolaev and Kirovograd home visits to homebound and bedridden elderly with delivery of holiday gifts, master-classes, culinary festivals in Purim recipes, concerts with singing and dancing, numerous Purimshpiles involved hundreds and thousands of kids, teens, parents and elderly.
In Odesa Migdal JCC was one of the central addresses for a few Purim celebrations, in which hundreds of kids from Mazel Tov age till late teens were involved. Concerts by children’s groups, festivities and traditional refreshments, as well as master-classes in making “fruit pictures”, which were held by a group of Migdal’s teens for some 40 young kids arose special interest on the part of those who joined the celebrations. In addition to grand festivities Migdal members continued their tradition to deliver holiday sets to homebound and bedridden elderly.
Some 110 elderly received the gifts and met guests from the JCC in their apartments.
